Job Description
The trucking dispatcher will perform tasks involving logistics and managing vehicle dispatching operations. The trucking dispatcher is an essential component of Coastal Asphalt, ensuring transporting needs are met, communication and safety are maintained, and data is entered correctly and efficiently.  This position will be in a shop environment under the direct daily supervision of the equipment service manager who provides guidance and feedback.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Organize and coordinate the dispatch of truck drivers by communicating transportation information clearly
  • Communicate effectively in a timely manner with drivers as needed
  • Enter data for equipment and vehicle maintenance; schedule equipment maintenance appropriately
  • Open and close work orders correctly and efficiently
  • Ensure all compliance is completed for truck drivers
  • Ensure vehicle safety compliance
  • Collect, examine, monitor, and record all transportation documentation
  • Manage truck driver schedules
  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards as determined by law, site requirements and company policies
  • Employee may be sent to other facility locations and operations such as the DMV to perform duties as required
  • Schedule permits for special circumstances
  • Manage and organize files for vehicles and equipment
  • Ensure all workspaces remain clean and free of hazards and debris at all times
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
  • Perform tasks assigned by the supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have knowledge of multiple types of paving and grading equipment
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must possess a driving record that meets company standards
  • Must meet company employment requirements including but not limited to background checks
  • Must agree to adhere to Drug-Free Workplace requirements including pre-employment, post-accident, and random drug testing
  • Must maintain a good attendance and safety record
  • Must have the ability to carry and lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, reach with hands and arms, crouch and kneel as required
  • Must be able to enter and exit equipment safely
