The Grading crew is an essential component of Coastal Asphalt, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety are met in numerous grading projects. This position will operate alongside numerous crew members and under the direct daily supervision of a Foreman who provides guidance and feedback for all grading projects. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who values safety and collaboration as top priorities to serve as a member of the Coastal Asphalt family!

Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure all workspaces remain clean and free of hazards and debris at all times
Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
Perform daily tasks assigned by crew leader and Foreman correctly and promptly
Implement corrections given from crew leader and Foreman
Unload and load materials and equipment prior to beginning each project and upon exiting the jobsite
Report all injuries, accidents, regulatory violations, and safety concerns to crew leader or Foreman
Operate equipment and tools properly and according to safety standards to perform required tasks including but not limited to raking, sweeping, lining out the road, and working beside or operating the tractor, mill, paver, and screed
Perform pouring, smoothing, and setting of asphalt labor according to company and customer standards for quality and safety
Properly power off all equipment and ensure all tools are collected and securely fastened in company vehicles upon project completion
Report all absences to crew leader or Foremen at least 24 hours prior to missing work

Position Requirements

Must possess a valid driver’s license with the flexibility to travel to various job sites within South Carolina and surrounding areas if necessary
Minimum of 2 years of grading experience preferred
Traffic control experience preferred
Must pass an authorized drug test prior to employment
Must possess a driving record that meets company standards
Must meet company employment requirements including but not limited to background checks
Must agree to adhere to Drug-Free Workplace requirements including post-accident and random drug testing
Must maintain a good attendance and safety record
Must have the ability to carry and lift 50 pounds
Must be able to stoop, bend, reach with hands and arms, crouch and kneel as required
Must be able to enter and exit equipment safely
