Facilities Maintenance Worker
Job Description
Facilities Maintenance Worker is responsible for the day to day upkeep of facilities for Coastal Asphalt. The Facilities Maintenance Worker performs many routine maintenance, safety, and inspection tasks. This position will operate alongside other crew members and under the direct daily supervision of a Foreman who provides guidance and feedback for all projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Buildings and Grounds:
Maintain all grassy areas. Schedule daily janitorial services to keep the building’s interior and exterior attractive and hospitable for the people using it. Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks. Safely complete projects for the upgrade of existing buildings and projects of any new building or structures. Complete any repairs to plumbing and electrical. Complete any exterminating needed. Prepare facilities for changing weather conditions. Collaborate with building owners on other facilities’ needs. Perform other duties as assigned.
Farm:
Manage pasture field maintenance and care for farm animal enclosures which includes: Identify plants, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers; Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow and maintain fields. Operate and maintain building functions including repairing farm buildings, fences, and other structures. Maintain water in facilities and water lines throughout farm. Assist in the planting and maintenance of dove fields. Plant and maintain food plots for deer. Maintain deer stands. Keep corn at deer stand locations. Maintain wisteria at the house. Maintain grapevines. Check completed work by vendors and contractors and ensure the work has been completed properly, if not, assist any and all necessary follow up work. Provide input to make processes more efficient. Communicate workplace safety precautions to fellow employees. Inspect facilities and work areas to ensure a safe work environment; conduct inspections to ensure safe storage and disposal of hazardous materials. Perform other duties as assigned.
Asphalt Plant:
Regularly complete janitorial services to keep the building’s interior and exterior attractive and hospitable for the people using it. Maintain all grassy areas. Delegate cleaning and maintenance task to appropriate team members. Perform other duties as assigned.
Shop:
Regularly coordinate and facilitate needs in the field with shop management. Maintain grounds and facilities in accordance with OSHA guidelines.
Field Technology:
Correctly operate inspection camera and maintain inspection camera trailer in working condition. Safely operate vacuum excavation equipment, mounted to a large truck or trailer, to uncover underground utilities in the field; Maintain vacuum excavation equipment.
Working Conditions
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. For the most part, typically a comfortable environment with regular exposure to factors such as extreme temperatures, moving machinery, loud noises, fumes and risk of electrical shock or burn.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with the flexibility to travel to various job sites within South Carolina and surrounding areas if necessary
- Must pass an authorized drug test prior to employment
- Must possess a driving record that meets company standards
- Must meet company employment requirements including but not limited to background checks
